De acuerdo a información publicada por Prensa Libre y Terra (mira el video aqui), el judoca cubano de -100 kilos Oreydi Despaigne quedó descalificado en octavos de final ante el uzbeco Ramziddin Sayidov por haber mordido a su rival cuando faltaba medio minuto para terminar un combate que iba ganando.

La acción se produjo cuando el cubano dominaba el marcador por un waza-ari contra dos yukos del rival. El uzbeco lanzó la mano para coger la solapa del kimono de Despaigne pero calculó mal y puso el dedo en la boca del cubano.

Sayidov se quejó de que el cubano lo había mordido y los jueces, después de consultar con la comisión de arbitraje, decretaron la descalificación de Despaigne.

De acuerdo con quejas del propio judoca cubano publicados por la Associated Press (AP), el cubano se quejó de que la decisón arbitral que lo dejó fuera fue injusta.

"Fue una decisión muy injusta... ¿qué voy a hacer?", lamentó el atleta cubano de 31 años, quien con una palabra malsonante señaló que la determinación lo perjudicó. "Fue demasiado drástico, no era lo que tenía que cantar. A mí me partieron la boca, me metieron el dedo en la boca y no sancionaron nada".

El judoca, tres veces medallista en Panamericanos en la categoría de 100 kilos, perdió luego de que su rival Ramziddin Sayidov, de Uzbekistán, reclamó al árbitro de que el cubano le había doblado los dedos. El juez aplicó la sanción y paró la pelea porque, con ello, Despaigne acumulaba cuatro faltas, el máximo permitido en judo.

"Claro que me voy dolido y triste. Yo venía preparado, era un combate que iba ganando y faltando pocos segundos me meten esa injusticia. Uno se prepara cuatro años para venir", manifestó sobre la eliminación en la segunda fase de la contienda. Despaigne había pasado a la segunda ronda sin necesidad de competir en la primera.

El atleta, quien ganó plata en los Panamericanos de 2011 y bronce en el Campeonato Mundial de Judo de 2010, tenía la esperanza de pelear por su primera presea olímpica, pero la eliminación truncó su sueño.

"Ya no pienso competir más en olimpiada, a lo mejor compito por ahi en otro lado, pero ya no en olimpiada", aseguró Despaigne.
