LONDRES (AP) — Paola Espinosa conmemoró el martes por partida doble: celebró su cumpleaños y ganó medalla de plata en clavado sincronizado sobre plataforma de 10 metros, su segunda presea en unos Juegos Olímpicos.

"Fue un gran regalo", dijo sobre la medalla alcanzada con su compañera Alejandra Orozco, de 15 años, en los juegos de Londres. Espinosa consiguió el bronce cuatro años atrás en los Juegos de Beijing. "No se me nota, pero ya tengo 26 años", añadió entre risas.

La atleta mexicana contó que el día comenzó de manera especial desde que se levantó y recibió los saludos de su compañera de saltos.

"Me desperté con 'Las Mañanitas' que me cantó Alejandra y con un regalo que me dejó y que ella me hizo con sus manos", relató, en alusión a la tradicional canción que se entona en México para festejar a un cumpleañero. "Sólo ella tiene ese talento, me regaló unos chocolates, así que me desperté de buenas y agradecida con mi amiga Alejandra que se acordó de mi cumpleaños".

A sus 26 años, Espinosa dice sentir nostalgia por los torneos pasados en los que participó, incluyendo olimpiadas de 2008 en Beijing y 2004 en Atenas, y ya piensa en los Juegos de 2016 en Río de Janeiro.

"Yo ya tengo 26 años, estos son mis terceros Olímpicos, me siento muy bien y satisfecha de todo lo que he logrado", comentó. "Si Dios quiere y mi cuerpo y mi mente lo permiten, voy a prepararme para los próximos Juegos".

Conmemoró también el buen resultado obtenido por sus compatriotas del equipo masculino de clavado sincronizado desde plataforma, Germán Sánchez e Iván García, que el lunes recibieron medalla de plata.

"Muchas felicidades a mis otros compañeros que ayer (lunes) pudieron llevarse la plata, ojalá vengan más. Faltan pruebas importantes para México en las cuales podemos tener un buen resultado, ojalá que así sea", expresó.
