Londres — Robeisy Ramírez inició con buen pie el lunes la andadura de Cuba en el boxeo de los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres al derrotar por un contundente 19-7 al japonés Katsuaki Susa en la categoría de peso mosca.
El nativo de Cienfuegos, de 19 años, dominó de cabo a rabo su primer combate en suelo londinense, exhibiendo una excelente técnica, movilidad y un contundente golpeo, y abrumó al asiático, que cedió por un mínimo de tres puntos cada uno de los tres asaltos.
"Me fui un poco de la estrategia, pero luego rectifiqué y saqué adelante la tarea que me habían encomendado, como en todas las peleas", resumió Ramírez.
Cuba es la delegación latinoamericana con mayor representación boxística en Londres, con ocho púgiles en liza, y aspira a revertir los decepcionantes resultados de los pasados Juegos de Beijing 2008, cuando el país caribeño no pudo lograr una medalla de oro por primera vez en cuatro décadas.
"El equipo está bien, con buen pensamiento de lograr el oro. El grupo de estos olímpicos es del mismo nivel que en Beijing. Allí había también mucha calidad", dijo el cubano, quien se verá las caras en segunda ronda con el tailandés Chatchai Butdee el viernes.
