De acuerdo con información de la agencia EFE y AP difundida a su vez en sitios como El Informador y el sitio hermano HuffPost Sports, Japón ha ganado una reclamación presentada contra la nota de Kohei Uchimura en el último ejercicio de la final olímpica de gimnasia por equipos y ha ascendido de la cuarta a la segunda posición, de la que desbanca a Gran Bretaña.

El equipo local desplaza del podio, a su vez, a Ucrania, que queda cuarto, en el lugar que tenían los japoneses.

China ha revalidado el título olímpico, con 275.997 puntos, ahora por delante de los 271.952 de Japón (había recibido en principio 271.252) y los 271.711 de Gran Bretaña.

En el cable de AP se señala que cinco minutos y una revisión de vídeo bastaron para solucionar la posición de los medallistas de plata y bronce, después que Japón cuestionó la calificación del tres ocasiones campeón del mundo, Kohei Uchimura, en su ejecución en el caballo con arcos. Japón saltó del cuarto al segundo lugar después que los jueces revisaron los resultados de Uchimura, chocando con Gran Bretaña hasta el bronce y Ucrania fuera del podio medallas.

Fue la primera medalla de los británicos por primera vez en un siglo, en esta disciplina.

"Para ganar una medalla en los juegos de su casa, me quedo con que cualquier día", dijo Kristian Thomas. "Nunca en realidad tenía la plata en nuestras manos, así que no hay verdadera decepción".

Estados Unidos tuvo un mal día y cayó hasta la quinta posición a pesar de haber cerrado la fase de clasificación en el primer sitio.
