LONDRES .- Kimberly Rhode es ya la única estadounidense que ha conquistado una presea de un deporte individual en cinco juegos olímpicos consecutivos, luego de hacerse del oro el domingo en el tiro de Londres 2012, en la modalidad de skeet.

Además, Rhode empató el récord mundial e impuso una marca olímpica con 99 puntos.

La estadounidense ganó el oro en la fosa doble en Atlanta 1996, cuando era adolescente; se llevó el bronce en esa disciplina cuatro años después, en Sidney; refrendó su título olímpico en Atenas 2004, y consiguió la plata en el skeet o tiro al plato en Beijing 2008.

En la eliminatoria, impuso un récord olímpico, al errar sólo uno de sus 75 disparos.

La federación estadounidense de tiro consideró que el domingo marcó la jornada más exitosa de la historia para este deporte.

La china Wei Ning se llevó la plata, con 91 unidades, y la eslovaca Danka Bartekova se colgó la presea de bronce, al superar en un desempate a la rusa Marina Belikova, con quien había igualado en 90 puntos.

Más temprano, la china Guo Wenjun revalidó su título olímpico en pistola de aire desde 10 metros tras completar una secuencia casi perfecta en la final.

China se embolsó su segunda medalla de oro en igual número de días del tiro deportivo en Londres 2012, luego que Yi Siling se consagró el sábado en carabina de aire desde 10 metros.


Guo se anotó un 10.8 sobre 10.9 para subir del segundo al primer lugar. La francesa Celine Goberville llegó a la última ronda con ventaja, pero cerró con 8.8 y quedó empatada con la ucraniana Olena Kostevych. Goberville se impuso en el desempate a un tiro para llevarse la medalla de plata.


Kostevych, la campeona olímpica de 2004, se colgó el bronce.
