LONDRES (AP) — Francia destrozó los pronósticos al vencer a los favoritas cuartetas de Australia y Estados Unidoo al adjudicarse el domingo la medalla olímpica de oro en el relevo 4x100 de los Juegos de Londres.

Amaury Leveaux, Fabien Gilot, Clement Lefert y Yannick Agnel consiguieron el oro para Francia con un tiempo de 3 minutos y 9.93 segundos.

Estados Unidos lideraba hasta que Agnel desplazó a Ryan Lochte en la última vuelta. Los estadounidenses debieron conformarse con una presea de plata al registrar 3:10.38.

Rusia se quedó con el bronce con 3:11.41.

Fue una dulce venganza para los franceses, que hace cuatro años en Beijing perdieron una estrecha final.

¿Y Australia? Pese a la presencia de James Magnussen y Eamon Sullivan, los grandes favoritos previo a la carrera terminaron en el cuarto puesto.
