VARSOVIA (AP) — Los usuarios de Twitter lanzaron más de 15.000 tuits por segundo cuando España hizo su cuarto gol en la final de la Eurocopa de 2012 el domingo, estableciendo un nuevo récord relacionado con el deporte en el sitio de redes sociales.
Twitter dijo el lunes que el tráfico mundial total en su plataforma alcanzó un máximo de 15.358 tuits por segundo tras el cuarto gol del domingo en Kiev, donde España derrotó a Italia por 4-0. Twitter también registró un total de 16,5 millones de tuits en todo el mundo durante el partido.
Entre los tuiteros estuvo Pelé. El ex astro brasileño felicitó a España y dijo estar esperando con interés la Copa del Mundo de 2014 en Brasil.
El fuerte aumento de tuits se produjo cuando faltan unas cuantas semanas para los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres, que se espera traigan nuevas oleadas de actividad entre los tuiteros que también son aficionados a los deportes.
