España se proclamó bicampeón de la Eurocopa 2012 al golear en la gran final a Italia 4-0 en el estadio Olímpico de Kiev, en Ucrania.

El equipo español hace historia con un tiplete dorado con triunfos que incluyen la Eurocopa Austria-Suiza 2008, el Mundial Sudáfrica 2010 y la Eurocopa Polonia-Ucrania 2012, un hito para cualquier selección con una jetatura internacional de cuatro años.

Con este nuevo trofeo, el equipo que dirige el director técnico Vicente del Bosque se adjudicó su tercera Eurocopa en la historia, luego de haberla ganado en 1964 ante Unión Soviética (2-1) y en 2008 contra Alemania (1-0), empatando con el mismo número de trofeos con el combinado de Alemania.

EL JUEGO
España desde el inicio buscó imponer sus condiciones al tocar el balón por toda la cancha; sin embargo, Italia, con su nueva propuesta futbolística, trató de proyectar a sus delanteros con trazos largos, pero fue la escuadra ibérica la que empezó a tocar la puerta con disparos de larga distancia, siendo lo más peligroso el de Xavi Hernández en los primeros minutos.

La escuadra española echó a los italianos a su terreno de juego y en la primera pincelada magistral de Andrés Iniesta llegó el gol al minuto 13, luego de que el mediocampista del Barcelona cedió pase filtrado a Fábregas, quien entró al área grande y al llegar éste a la última línea centró para Silva, quien de cabeza mandó la esférica al fondo de las redes.

Lo mejor que hizo Italia después del gol en contra fue bajarle a España la intensidad de su juego, por lo que se apropió de la esférica y comenzó a tenerla más tiempo, pero ahora le tocó el turno al portero del Real Madrid, Íker Casillas, para erigirse como la figura, luego de tener intervenciones clave para evitar el empate a centro peligroso de Balzaretti y disparo de Cassano.

Sin embargo, cuando Italia tenía la redonda, otra genialidad del cuadro español volvió a silenciar a la 'azurra' al minuto 40 con su segunda anotación, en la que su motor Xavi Hernández filtró pase exacto a Jordi Alba para que éste recibiera y quedara solo frente a Buffon, a quien no tuvo problemas para vencer de zurda, sentenciando el marcador en la primera parte.

Italia para la parte complementaria se fue con todo en busca de recortar las distancias en la pizarra, pero se volvió a topar con las buenas intervenciones de uno de los mejores porteros del mundo, luego de que Casillas le tapó en doble ocasión una jugada clara al recién ingresado Antonio Di Natale.

Pero tampoco España dejó de ser peligroso, pues tuvo ocasiones para sentenciar el partido a su favor en los botines de Cesc Fábregas, pero también el portero Buffon hizo acto de presencia para darle esperanza a su equipo de ir en busca de conseguir su primera anotación.

Las cosas se le complicaron todavía más a la 'Azurra', pues además de ir abajo en el marcador jugó con un hombre menos, luego de la lesión del recién ingresado Thiago Motta, pues al no tener más sustituciones, luego de haber hecho sus tres cambios, Italia tuvo que terminar con 10 hombres el partido.

España, con todos los elementos a su favor, sobrellevó las acciones y se adueñó por completo del partido, esto también propiciado por la poca respuesta de los italianos, que estaban completamente entregados ante el buen partido de los ibéricos.

Las cerezas en el pastel de este campeonato español fueron los goles de los recién ingresados Fernando Torres (84') y Juan Mata (88'), quienes no tuvieron problemas para aprovechar sus oportunidades a buenos pases de Xavier Hernández y Fernando Torres, respectivamente, por lo que el partido quedó sentenciado.
