Más allá de que el ganador del duelo podría convertirse en el retador del campeón mundial mexicano Saúl Álvarez por la corona Superwelter del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo, tanto Víctor Ortiz como Josesito López están enfocados en la pelea que protagonizarán este fin de semana en Los Ángeles.

“Los fanáticos pueden esperar un gran show el sábado por la noche. Hubo tantos cambios en este campo de entrenamiento. Siempre he tenido la meta de ser uno de los peleadores más grandes de todos los tiempos y la meta sigue ahí. Entrené muy duro y estoy listo. Los dos estamos para destruirnos, pero Josesito no sabe con quién se metió”, sentenció el peleador Ortiz, quien en su última pelea fue noqueado por el estadounidense Floyd Mayweather en el cuarto round debido a un grave descuido.

Aunque Ortiz comentó que desconocía quién era el 'Canelo', aseguró que pretende dar una de las mejores peleas en su carrera pues buscará de inmediato la corona mundialista.

“Encuentro el anuncio de la pelea de Ortiz y 'Canelo' como una falta de respeto. Pero al mismo tiempo eso me da motivación para lograr mi meta. Creo que el resultado sorprenderá a todos”, sentenció Josesito López, quien fue contratado como remplazo del estadounidense Andre Berto debido a que el afroamericano falló en un examen antidoping.

Ortiz reconoció en López a un buen peleador pero aseguró que equivocó el camino en aceptar una pelea ante él.

'Vicious' Ortíz, ex campeón Welter del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo, subirá con un récord de 29 triunfos, 22 de ellos por nocaut, 3 derrotas y dos empates; mientras que Josesito – quien obtendrá su primera oportunidad destacable – subirá con una foja de 29 trinfos, 17 antes del límite y cuatro derrotas.
