MIAMI — Es definitivo, LeBron James tomó una buena decisión cuando se mudó a Miami. Finalmente es campeón de la NBA y todo ha valido la pena.
James anotó 26 puntos, repartió 13 asistencias y atrapó 11 rebotes, además de recibir el tipo de ayuda que le prometieron para que firmara con el Heat de Miami, que apabulló el jueves 121-106 al Thunder de Oklahoma City en el quinto partido de la final.
El astro del Heat fue nombrado el jugador más valioso. Y su equipo es el mejor de la liga. Semejante combinación era lo que buscaba James cuando tomó la controversial decisión de mudar sus talentos al sur de la Florida, aunque con ello le rompió el corazón a los aficionados de Cleveland, el equipo con el que debutó.
"Esto significa todo para mí", dijo James momentos después de la victoria. "Tomé una decisión difícil al marcharme de Cleveland, pero entendía cuál era mi futuro... Sabía que tendría un futuro brillante. Este es un sueño convertido en realidad. Definitivamente todo ha dado frutos".
Miami se dio incluso el lujo de sacar de la cancha a James, a Dwyane Wade y a Chris Bosh cuando restaban 3:01 del desigual duelo. Todos comenzaron a abrazarse en el banquillo. Para James, ése fue el inicio de una celebración que había esperado desde que llegó a la NBA, como la primera selección del "draft" de 2003.
James saltó sin cesar en los últimos minutos. Cuando sonó la chicharra final, se abrazó varios segundos con su rival Kevin Durant y vio la lluvia de confeti que caía desde el techo del inmueble.
El Heat tomó el control del partido en el segundo periodo, pasó apuros momentáneos en el tercero pero de inmediato le restó todo el suspenso a la noche, apoyado en sus estrellas. James se limitó a servir el balón a sus compañeros desmarcados, para que encestaran triples, mientras el Thunder concentraba toda la atención en él.
Bosh y Wade, los otros integrantes del trío estelar que prometió junto con James títulos para Miami hace un par de años, tuvieron estupendas actuaciones. Bosh, que rompió a llorar el año pasado, cuando el Heat cayó en el sexto partido de la final, totalizó 24 puntos, mientras que Wade añadió 20.
El Heat recibió también una gran ayuda de Mike Miller, que acertó siete triples y totalizó 23 puntos.
