MONTEVIDEO (AP) — Uruguay sufrió ante la garra de Perú, pero al final sacó el domingo una victoria como local 4-2 para colocarse en el segundo puesto de las eliminatorias sudamericanas al Mundial de Brasil 2014

Con goles de Sebastián Coates, Maximiliano Pereira, Christian Rodríguez y Sebastián Eguren, a los 15, 30, 63 y 93 minutos, respectivamente, los "Celestes" cantaron victoria. Los tantos peruanos fueron por un autogol de Diego Godín a los 40 y Paolo Guerrero a los 48.

Con este resultado, Uruguay ascendió al segundo lugar con 11 puntos, uno por encima de Argentina. Perú complicó aun más su situación al mantenerse en el último puesto con tres unidades.

Chile, que el sábado venció a domicilio 2-0 a Venezuela, lidera con 12.

Perú llegó al encuentro necesitado de puntos y disminuido por las bajas por lesiones de Juan Vargas y Claudio Pizarro, además de una intoxicación de Jefferson Farfán. Uruguay, luego de igualar 1-1 a Venezuela el fin de semana pasado también en Montevideo, estaba obligado a conseguir una victoria para mantenerse entre los punteros.

El técnico de Uruguay Oscar Tabárez admitió que su equipo, que el año pasado conquistó la Copa América, no tuvo una tarea fácil ante Perú.

"Reconozco que tenemos que responder a las expectativas que hemos creado", dijo Tabárez. "No digo que es una carga, pero es algo muy pesado. Parecería que hay que ganar fácil, hay que gustar, hay que golear y no es así, nosotros no estamos para ganarle a todos y nos cuesta mucho ganar partidos como los de hoy".

Los peruanos se despidieron masticando amargura con el arbitraje del brasileño Leandro Pedro Vuaden.

"Así es imposible ganar, tuvimos que luchar contra el rival y contra el árbitro. Tengo las piernas destrozadas. Hay faltas que no nos cobraron, así es imposible ganarlo", afirmó Guerrero.

El técnico de Perú Sergio Markarián señaló que "no vale la pena protestar por un arbitraje cuando ya el partido se jugó".

"No voy a emitir un juicio sobre el arbitraje, no quiero manchar de ninguna manera la victoria de Uruguay, que fue justa sin duda, pero me deja un sabor amargo una derrota muy dura ... recibir cuatro goles es duro".

Tras el arranque con vértigo de los dueños de casa, Coates abrió el marcador con un cabezazo. El segundo tanto fue obra del volante Pereira tras un rebote dentro del área.

Pero el entusiasmo de Uruguay empezó a decaer luego de que Godín, intentando desviar a un tiro de esquina, convirtiera un gol en contra.

Esta situación levantó el ánimo de los peruanos, que apenas ingresaron al segundo tiempo consiguieron el gol del empate transitorio por cuenta de Guerrero.

Uruguay restableció la ventaja con un cabezazo de Rodríguez. Eguren dio el cierre definitivo al marcador en el tercer minuto de la prolongación.

El próximo partido de Uruguay será ante Colombia en Bogotá en septiembre. Una importante ausencia será la del delantero Luis Suárez que deberá cumplir una fecha de suspensión por amonestaciones. Perú recibirá a Venezuela.

Unas 60.000 personas llenaron el estadio Centenario.
