PARIS (AP) — La rusa Maria Sharapova venció el viernes 6-1, 6-1 a la japonesa Ayumi Morita en la segunda ronda del Abierto de Francia, mientras que la serbia Ana Ivanovic fue eliminada por la italiana Sara Errani.

Sharapova, segunda preclasificada, ha ganado tres títulos grandes, pero aún le falta triunfar en Roland Garros para completar un Grand Slam en su carrera. El partido ante Morita fue postergado un día por el maratónico duelo entre el estadounidense John Isner y el francés Paul-Henri Mathieu.

En la rama masculina, el español Marcel Granollers dio cuenta del tunecino Malek Jaziri en un largo partido que se resolvió 7-6 (1), 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5.

Ivanovic, 13ra preclasificada y ex número uno del mundo que ganó el Abierto de Francia en 2008, cometió 37 de sus 40 errores no forzados en los últimos dos sets del encuentro de tercera ronda que terminó 1-6, 7-5, 6-3. Errani sólo tuvo 18.

"En el tercer set estaba creando muchas oportunidades y fallando muchas pelotas muy, muy fáciles para terminar puntos", dijo Ivanovic. "Eso es algo con lo que realmente no estoy contenta".

Dos días después de eliminar a la estadounidense Venus Williams en Roland Garros, la polaca Agnieszka Radwanska, tercera preclasificada, fue apaleada 6-1, 6-2 por la rusa Svetlana Kuznetsova, campeona del Abierto de Francia en 2009.

Radwanska no se vio para nada como la jugadora que abrumó el miércoles a Williams, siete veces campeona de torneos Grand Slam, en sets consecutivos.

Por su parte, la estadounidense Sloane Stephens avanzó a la cuarta ronda al vencer 6-3, 6-2 a la francesa Mathilde Johansson. De las ocho adolescentes en el sorteo de este año, Stephens, de 19 años, fue la única en llegar a la tercera rueda.

Más tarde, el número uno mundial Novak Djokovic y Roger Federer, campeón en Francia en 2009, disputarán sus partidos de tercera ronda.
