MIAMI (AP) — LeBron James encestó 34 puntos con 10 rebotes, Dwyane Wade anotó 23 y el Heat de Miami logró completar su remontada más grande en playoffs al vencer el miércoles en tiempo extra 115-111 a los Celtics de Boston.

Mario Chalmers aportó 22 tantos para el Heat, que se adelantó 2-0 en la final de la Conferencia del Este, pese a una noche sensacional de Rajon Rondo. El base de los Celtics jugó de principio a fin, los 53 minutos, y anotó 44 puntos con 10 asistencias y ocho rebotes.

"Este es un equipo con determinación", dijo Wade sobre los Celtics. "Hicieron un partidazo. Fue físico al comienzo. Nos apretaron. Eso no puede ser. Nos arropamos en el aliento de la afición para meternos en el partido y jugar mejor".

En una causa perdida, Paul Pierce anotó 21 puntos antes de salir del partido por acumulación de faltas, Kevin Garnett coló 21 y Ray Allen añadió 13 por los Celtics.

Rondo acertó 16 de sus 24 tiros al aro, 10 de 12 de la línea de tiros libres y coló sus dos intentos para triples.

"Estuvo sencillamente fenomenal", comentó el entrenador de los Celtics Doc Rivers. "Se cargó a todo el equipo encima en muchas ocasiones ... Tuvimos muchas oportunidades para ganar el partido".

Un triple de Allen a falta de 34.3 segundos por jugar empató el duelo 99-99. James erró dos tiros: el primero en bandeja, luego recuperó su propio rebote y acabó fallando en el intento de canasta en la última posesión del tiempo reglamentario.

Y no hubo otro remedio que el tiempo extra.

"Tuvimos que pelearla de la manera más difícil", dijo el entrenador del Heat Erik Spoelstra.

El tercer partido será el viernes en Boston.

El Heat había remontadado desventajas de 14 puntos en la postemporada en dos ocasiones previas, la primera en el sexto partido de la final de la liga en 2006 —el duelo en el que se consagraron campeones— y también el año pasado ante Filadelfia.

Estuvieron contra las cuerdas en varios pasajes el miércoles, abajo por 15 en el primer tiempo y hasta por 11 en el tercer cuarto.

Cuando James falló dos tiros libres al inicio del tiempo extra, Miami parecía otra vez en problemas. Pero supieron responder en un partido en el que tomaron 47 tiros libres —24 de James— contra los 29 de Boston.

En el alargue, la mejor síntesis fue así: Rondo anotó, el Heat empató; Rondo anotó, el Heat empató; Rondo anotó, el Heat empató.

Hasta que Rondo falló un canasto en bandeja, en el que creyó que le cometieron falta, a falta de 1.33. Fue ahí que Miami se despegó 105-103 con una clavada de Udonis Haslem.

"Regresamos a casa", dijo Mickael Pietrus de los Celtics. "Nuestra camiseta será de color blanco. Ellos ganaron dos. Muy bien por ellos. Pero vamos a nuestra casa y ya saben lo que eso significa".
