En una carrera dominada por los pilotos de Red Bull, Mark Webber perdió el liderato de la carrera ante su coequipero, Sebastian Vettel sólo para recuperarlo cuando éste hizo su parada en pits. De esta forma, el australiano ganó su segundo GP de Mónaco en los últimos tres años y subió al tercer sitio en el Campeonato de Pilotos.

Mientras tanto el mexicano Sergio Pérez no tuvo suerte y finalizó en la undécima posición. Después de arrancar en el lugar 23, el tapatío logró remontar varias posiciones para meterse momentaneamente en la pelea, por los puntos pero al final una mala estrategia en pits, así como incidentes con Kimmi Raikkonen y Heiki Kovalainen lo dejaron fuera de la pelea.
