Un elefante y un cerdo han sido postulados como candidatos para pronosticar los resultados de la Eurocopa 2012 que se jugará a partir del próximo 8 de junio en Ucrania y Polonia.

Como parte de la moda que ha imperado en los torneos importantes de fútbol desde que en el pasado Mundial el pulpo Paul saltó a la fama por elegir desde su estanque los escudos de las selecciones ganadoras de los partidos, el zoológico de Cracovia anunció que un elefante hembra de nombre Citta, está listo para mostrar sus dotes de oráculo.

En información que reproduce el Diario La Afición, Citta elegirá antes de cada juego una de dos cestas de frutas adornadas con los colores de los países involucrados, determinando así al ganador. El paquidermo fue puesto a prueba en la pasada final de la Liga de Campeones y logró adivinar que el Chelsea se alzaría como campeón.

El otro organizador, Ucrania, no piensa quedarse atrás y ha postulado a un cerdo como su candidato para predecir los resultados. El Ayuntamiento de Kiev anunció que el rechoncho animal, será llevado a la zona de aficionados antes de los juegos y que todos los días en punto de las 16:00 hrs mostrará sus dotes de vidente.

"Un oráculo único, un auténtico cerdo ucraniano y una psique que conoce los misterios del futbol", se lee en el comunicado de la localidad. "Cada día a las 16:00 horas pronosticará el resultado del siguiente partido".

No conforme con un elefante y un cerdo, el zoológico de Varsovia, también anunció que los gallos sedosos Gerwazy y Protazy, competirán por el honor de ser los mejores amigos de los corredores de apuestas con sus premoniciones (ver video).

El pulpo Paul, iniciador de esta moda, murió el 26 de octubre de 2010, luego de haber sorprendido al mundo eufórico por el fútbol desde su estanque en Oberhausen, Alemania.

El Campeonato Europeo de Fútbol se desarrollará del 8 de junio al 1 de julio de 2012.
