Buenos Aires, Argentina.- El conjunto argentino de Boca Juniors no aprovechó en demasía jugar en su cancha La Bombonera, pues en el juego de ida de estos cuartos de final de la Copa Libertadores solamente pudo vencer por la mínima diferencia a la escuadra brasileña de Fluminense, marcador que luce muy pobre para el de vuelta en tierras brasileñas.
El equipo 'xeneize' fue mejor durante todo el partido, pero esto también se debió a que jugó casi todo el partido con un hombre más, luego de la expulsión al minuto 34 de Carlinhos, lo que hizo que la visita se replegara en su terreno de juego.
Ambos conjuntos tuvieron ausencias importantes, pero el encuentro no decayó con esto, al contrario, fue bien jugado por los dos equipos. El cerebro del cuadro argentino fue Juan Román Riquelme, quien fue la bujía para que su equipo llegara con peligro, pero en los primeros 45 minutos no pudieron anotar.
Para el segundo tiempo, Fluminense por medio del contragolpe trató de hacer daño, pero al 51 Boca Juniors logró conseguir el único gol del cotejo en los botines de Pablo Mouche, quien con tiro cruzado venció al portero Diego Cavallieri.
Con el gol en contra y con el hombre menos, la escuadra brasileña se echó más atrás para evitar que el equipo argentino aumentara su ventaja, no dejando ser peligroso con los contragolpes de Rafael Sobis, Rafael Moura y Thiago Neves, por lo que cuidó el resultado y ya no dejó que su portería volviera a caer.
El partido de vuelta se jugará el siguiente miércoles en la cancha Joao Havelange, en Río de Janeiro, en donde el cuadro del Fluminense estará obligado a ganar para por lo menos empatar en el marcador global y seguir con vida en el certamen.
