Asunción, Paraguay.- El conjunto paraguayo de Libertad no aprovechó su condición de local y su rival de estos cuartos de final de la Copa Libertadores, la Universidad de Chile, logró sacarle un valioso empate a un gol en el juego de ida en el Estadio Nicolás Leoz, por lo que ahora tendrá que ir a Chile a revertir el marcador para seguir con vida en el certamen continental.
El partido fue bien disputado por ambos conjuntos, en el que ambos no se dieron tregua en momento alguno, el cuadro del Libertad por medio del juego vertical buscó elaborar sus jugadas, mientras que la visita mediante muchos toques y un futbol más colectivo trató de hacer daño en el marco rival.
El primer gol del partido llegó por el sendero derecho en una jugada rápida del conjunto de Libertad al minuto 7, en la que el mediocampista Civelli entró por ese lado solo hasta el área grande y mandó centro raso para el arribo de Cáceres, quien con todo y marca logró enviar el balón al fondo de las redes.
Con la anotación tempranera, la Universidad de Chile no se desesperó y poco a poco fue equilibrando las acciones, pero su mejor futbol llegó en los últimos minutos de la primera parte, luego de un cabezazo de Ángelo Henríquez y un disparo de Marcelo Díaz.
Para el segundo tiempo, la escuadra andina salió en busca de la igualada, pero la paraguaya también buscó con otro gol marcar el rumbo del partido; sin embargo, al 55 el mediocampista Gustavo Lorenzetti cayó el estadio Nicolás Leoz con disparo colocado, luego que desde tres cuartos de cancha tiró y venció al portero Muñoz.
Con la anotación en contra se descontroló el equipo local y ya no generó mucho peligro, lo mejor que pudo hacer fue al 65 con un disparo de Luciano Civelli, así como otro al 79 de Rodolfo Gamarra y en el último minuto de Miguel Zamudio, por lo que el juego quedó sentenciado con el empate.
