MORELIA, México.- Con una gran exhibición en el juego de vuelta, el actual campeón del futbol mexicano Tigres avanzó a la siguiente ronda al eliminar a domicilio al Morelia, luego de derrotarlo por 4-1, para un marcador global de 5-1, que lo pone muy cerca del bicampeonato.
Ahora el rival en turno en las semifinales para la escuadra del director técnico Ricardo Ferretti será el Santos Laguna, quizás el mejor conjunto que mostró el mejor futbol en estos cuartos de final, jugándose el primer juego en el Universitario y el segundo en la cancha santista.
Desde que se movió el esférico, Morelia trató de irse al frente ; sin embargo, se encontró con un equipo muy ordenado que le cerró todos los espacios, pues ni Sabah ni el joven Ángel Sepúlveda tuvieron en los primeros 10 minutos un balón a modo.
Incluso fue el cuadro visitante el que tuvo un asomo de peligro en el marco de Federico Vilar, luego de un disparo de Damián Álvarez, pero la zaga michoacana se empleó a fondo y logró desviar para tiro de esquina.
Morelia continuó sin los argumentos para poder llegar con peligro al marco universitario, así que conforme pasó el tiempo el cuadro felino fue envolviendo con su futbol a sus rivales, por lo que no tuvo llegada destacable hasta la finalización de los primeros 45 minutos.
Pero el segundo tiempo fue mucho más movido, por lo que la escuadra de Monarcas arriesgó de más y en los primeros cinco minutos su joven delantero Ángel Sepúlveda dejó escapar dos oportunidades claras.
La primera de ellas y la que increíblemente dejó ir fue al 47, luego de que el jugador de Monarcas se encontró con un balón de frente con la portería descubierta, pero trató de controlar y el balón se le escurrió por un costado.
La segunda falla fue en un tiro de esquina, en la que con gran salto el delantero michoacano le ganó el brinco al portero Enrique Palos, pero su cabezazo se fue por encima de la portería.
Y cuando se pensaba que Morelia estaría más cerca del gol, Tigres, muy al estilo de su timonel Ricardo 'Tuca' Ferretti, consiguió el primer gol del encuentro al 65, después de que Hugo Ayala disparó a puerta, pero la defensa desvió y entorpeció en lance de Vilar, por lo que el balón terminó en las redes.
Con la anotación, Monarcas perdió confianza y esto se vio reflejado al minuto 75 con el segundo gol en contra, en la que en un tiro libre de Lucas Lobos al borde del área grande, el argentino colocó la pelota por abajo al lado en el que el meta Vilar tenía que cubrir.
Pero más tardó en sobreponerse el equipo de Tomás Boy del segundo cuando al siguiente minuto ya tenía el tercero en las redes, luego de otro grave error de Vilar, quien no pudo quedarse con un balón en un centro a media altura, dejándoselo a Edno Cunha, quien solamente empujó.
El pobre futbol de Morelia todavía le alcanzó para recortar el marcador al 86, luego de que en una serie de rebotes fuera del área grande le cayó a modo la redonda a Sabah, quien no tuvo problemas para vencer al portero Enrique Palos.
Y ya en tiempo de compensación, el zaguero moreliano Romero le cometió una infantil falta dentro del área a Toledo, por lo que el silbante no dudo en marcar el tiro penal, el cual fue bien ejecutado por Elías Hernández para redondear la gran noche universitaria.
