Después de una sequía de cuatro años, el Real Madrid se coronó el miércoles campeón de la liga española de fútbol por 32da vez al vencer 3-0 en su visita al Athletic de Bilbao.
El argentino Gonzalo Higuaín, Mesut Ozil y Cristiano Ronaldo metieron los goles del Madrid, el club con más títulos en la historia de la liga.
Los merengues pusieron fin al reinado del Barcelona, campeón las tres últimas campañas y que parece cerrar un ciclo tras el adiós del técnico Pep Guardiola.
Con 94 puntos y a falta de dos fechas para su conclusión, el equipo de José Mourinho selló matemáticamente un campeonato que nuevamente fue cosa de dos, puesto que el Barsa le sigue con 87 tras ganarle 4-1 al Málaga. El Valencia marcha tercero, a 36 unidades de distancia, tras golear 4-0 a Osasuna.
"Ha sido una liga muy dura y larga ante un gran rival como el Barsa y tiene mucho mérito ser campeón a dos jornadas del final. Mirando al futuro, están las bases consolidadas", dijo el madridista Xabi Alonso.
Mourinho, campeón de la liga portuguesa, inglesa e italiana, consiguió el título español en su segunda campaña al frente del equipo blanco.
"Ya son siete títulos logrados y por eso estoy tranquilo. Es la liga más difícil que he ganado. Este título no nos lo ha regalado nadie. Hemos hecho muchos puntos y es una locura", dijo el preparador portugués a la televisión del club, saltándose nuevamente la sala de prensa.
En tanto, el astro argentino Lionel Messi se convirtió en el máximo anotador en una temporada en el fútbol europeo al marcar tres veces en la goleada del Barsa sobre el equipo del chileno Manuel Pellegrini, cuarto clasificado con 55 puntos.
Con su tripleta, Messi tomó la delantera en el ranking de máximos cañoneros del torneo con 46 dianas y superó las 67 del récord del alemán Gerd Muller en todas las competiciones (1972-1973). La nueva marca del delantero argentino es de 68.
"Nosotros no jugamos para Messi. Intentamos generar el máximo de ocasiones y él solito se encarga del resto", dijo Guardiola.
El Athletic, que juega la final de la Liga Europa la próxima semana contra el Atlético de Madrid, bajó a la octava plaza con los mismos puntos que Osasuna.
En el arranque de la jornada, el mexicano Carlos Vela ingresó de suplente y anotó en los descuentos el gol del empate 1-1 de la Real Sociedad en su visita al Atlético que, sexto con 50 puntos, ve difícil clasificar a la Liga de Campeones.
La Real alargó su invicto a siete fechas y se ubica 13ra.
El sueño de la salvación sigue vivo para Zaragoza y Sporting de Gijón tras la derrota del Rayo Vallecano 1-0 en Mallorca que deja al cuadro madrileño marcando el límite de la permanencia con 40 unidades.
Zaragoza, que venció 1-0 al Levante, le sigue con 37 en la última plaza del descenso, mientras que el Sporting es penúltimo con 34 y el Racing de Santander, con 27, figura como único equipo ya condenado a la segunda división.
Mallorca, séptimo clasificado, quedó a tres puntos de distancia del Levante, quinto en zona de Liga Europa con 52 puntos.
En el clásico andaluz, Betis remontó para vencer 2-1 a Sevilla, superando en la clasificación al gran rival, que vio sepultadas sus ambiciones europeas.
En su visita a San Mamés, el Madrid superó un ambiente caldeado y que se inflamó aún más con el penal por mano de Javi Martínez. Pero Cristiano lanzó al cuerpo del arquero Gorka Iraizoz, el segundo fallo consecutivo del portugués desde los 11 metros tras errar en semifinales de Liga de Campeones contra Bayern Munich.
Pero los blancos se repusieron en un contragolpe que finalizó de espléndido derechazo Higuaín a los 16 minutos; su 22do tanto en solo 17 titularidades.
El segundo, obra de Ozil (20) a pase de Cristiano, tranquilizó a los madridistas, que vieron como Iñigo Pérez estrellaba en el cuerpo de Iker Casillas y el travesaño dos cañonazos consecutivos.
Ozil también impactó en la madera antes del descanso, como Oscar De Marcos por los locales. Cristiano (50) certificó el triunfo blanco de cabeza con su 44to gol en liga y 58 en todas las competiciones. El equipo del argentino Marcelo Bielsa sufrió la expulsión de Martínez en la segunda mitad.
"Ya tengo dos Botas de Oro en casa. Lo que más quería era ganar la liga. Contra el Barsa, es más difícil", dijo Cristiano.
De entrada, el Barsa exigió al arquero del Málaga, Carlos Kameni, con una llegada del brasileño Dani Alves.
El poste se alió con los locales en un tiro libre ejecutado por el también brasileño Duda, participativo en el ataque andaluz junto con el venezolano Salomón Rondón y el argentino Diego Buonanotte, sorprendente titular.
Los azulgranas se aplicaron en sus movimientos ofensivos y Carles Puyol (13) culminó una triangulación con Andrés Iniesta y Messi para el 1-0.
El central no estuvo tan acertado en su propia área, donde Rondón (26) se le adelantó en un centro de Jesús Gámez para nivelar de cabeza, el décimo gol del venezolano en liga.
Gámez también erró al derribar a Iniesta en el límite del área, acción que el árbitro castigó como penal. Sin piedad, Messi (35) ejecutó desde los 11 metros y tampoco perdonó cuando cayó en forcejeó con Duda, repitiendo pena máxima (59).
Cinco minutos después, el gol del récord finiquitó al Málaga y llegó en majestuosa escapada de Messi, con ligero toque sobre la salida de Kameni.
La Real jugó con mayor tensión que el Atlético en la primera mitad, pero el descanso le sentó bien al equipo del técnico argentino Diego Simeone y Gabi Fernández (54) abrió el marcador con un portentoso disparo lejano que superó la estirada del chileno Claudio Bravo.
Tras la expulsión de Gabi por doble tarjeta amarilla, Vela, ingresado en el tramo final, aprovechó un barullo tras un tiro de esquina para, libre de marca, empujar a la red su 12da diana liguera.
Edu Oriol (11) aprovechó un error de la defensa del Levante para anotar su segundo gol en dos partidos y dar esperanzas al Zaragoza, que aguantó la ventaja en la segunda mitad para sumar su cuarta victoria en los últimos cinco partidos.
El Rayo dominó las ocasiones en Mallorca en la primera mitad, pero los locales reaccionaron tras el descanso y un tanto del uruguayo Gonzalo Castro (62) en contragolpe decidió.
La expulsión del visitante Dejan Lekic al filo del descanso marcó un bronco Valencia-Osasuna, en que los ches@ rentabilizaron su superioridad con sendos dobletes de Aritz Aduriz (77 y 87 ) y el brasileño Jonás (83 y 88).
Alvaro Negredo (5) reforzó su candidatura a jugar la próxima Eurocopa marcando el primer gol del clásico andaluz al rematar de volea un centro de Piotr Trochowski. En un partido bronco, Beñat Etxeberría (43 y 93) firmó la remontada del Betis en dos espléndidos lanzamientos de tiros libres.
